1. How do I know if my margins are 1"?

Go to "File" and scroll down to "Page Setup." Click on "Page Setup." A screen will popup that shows you the measurement of your margins. The default setting on Microsoft Word is 1.25". Reduce the margins .25" on each side.

2. How do I insert a header for my last name and page numbers?

Go to "View" and scroll down to "Header and Footer."

3. How do I change the page number on my header?

Right click on the header and a box revealing the properties for header. Click on the first icon on the left. This will insert page numbers on the header.

4. How do I write a works cited?

Many students use a Works Cited Generator to create their works cited. However, I would caution against this option. This generator often generates an incorrect works cited entry and does not show you how to format a works cited page. Click here for an example of a properly formatted works cited page.
