“April 10th 10:50 a.m. On the Wright Library Lawn”

I sit on the healthy lush green grass

Splattered with tiny clear dewdrops.

Little yellow flowers speckle the lawn.

The warm gold sun

Burns my back as I sit.

Small sparrows in the green shrubbery

Chirp sweet song.

An old rusty blue car whizzes by

Carrying a scruffy brown and black mutt.

A middle-aged woman with short blonde hair

Follows where her dachund leads her on a red leash.

My tangled brown hair drifts past my face

As a cool spring breeze blows.

Long smooth yellow-green leaves

Whisper as they rustle on three fronded palm trees.

Dark shadows of seagulls

Silently soar over the grass.

A small plump black beetle

Creeps quietly by on a crooked blade of grass.

Broken brittle twigs

Litter the lawn under a short withered skeletal tree.
