POETRY ASSIGNMENT

The class will go and sit silently on the lawn in front of the Wright Library for approximately fifteen minutes.  You are to write a poem about everything you saw, touched, smelled, heard, and felt.

  • Poem should be approximately ½ to 1 page in length.  It should be more or less broken into two stanzas.
  • Use plenty of imagery, metaphors, and similes to help bring moment to life through the printed word.
  • Use as a guide Ginsberg's poem we discussed in detail in class.
  • ]Rough draft due next class meeting.
