Desperation
A
drop slowly rolls,
Leaving a moist trail across my cheek
Farther and farther it falls,
Ending in salty taste on my quivering lip.
It
is followed by another,
Exactly like the first.
And soon a storm of drops,
Are uncontrollably crashing down.
I
clench my eyes closed.
Squeezing as tight as the tiny muscles will allow,
Creating an outbreak of wrinkles.
Failed,
my attempts have failed!
I can't even control the water from my eyes.
Filled
with desperation,
And overcome with the weight of my tears,
I slump to the hard, cold floor.
It's
a warm day, a welcome break from the cold...
But I sit alone and weep.
