To the tip of skyscrapers
My restless legs step onto the busy sidewalk
I nearly collide with several while I look around...

Honks from cabs
Yells from sidewalk vendors
Smells mingling between nearby restaurants
People everywhere
Riding, talking, preaching, or stalking

The skyscrapers
Up, up, up and through the clouds they go
All sizes and shapes
Yet, nearby is Central Park
Trees, fresh air, ponds, and carriages...

Beautiful churches, trees, and stores
Treacherous buildings, cars, and people
Diversity, differences
I see all this when I take
My first step in New York
