LA CITY SONG

The city is cold at night,
Find you feel so dirty when you stand
inside the light.
And all the traffic signals seem
So dingy in the night.
The street walkers all meet you with a grin.
Open their arms to let you in.

And they all say:
"Welcome, welcome to LA."

Smell of drugs and fast food
All hang heavy in the air.
Search the streets for a friendly face,
Think it's sad when their isn't one there.
Strange how the neon no longer shines
Quite as bright.
And there's no tender arms to keep you safe,
Hold you tight.
The serial killers grin over their knives.

And they all say:
"Welcome, welcome to LA."

It's always grey or black
In this town there is no white.
Sky reflects concrete.
Oh! Peeling billboards
artificial heat.

Slim-fast diets.
New born stars trying to get by ...
The starletts laugh as they die.

And they all say:
"Welcome, welcome to LA."

The city will just smile,
as it steals your breath,
takes your time.

Laugh itself into stitches
while you cry.

And they all say:
"Welcome, welcome to LA."
