1. Turn-in Winter Fun Pack (counts for Survey of Diversity of Life Unit Reading Chapters 26 - 34)

2. Gather class data for Lab 7 on Drosophilla. Consolidate/share all data F1 data for both crosses and record counts made by students over the holidays for F2 generation for both crosses.

 

In class:

1. Chapter 17 Lecture Notes on Central Dogma (Wendi go to - Genetics Folder -> From Gene to Protein -> Ch. 17)

 

HW:

1. Start Lab 7 write-up due next Monday. Lab 7 needs to be written up twice (since there are two types of crosses)

1. Continue or Finish Chapter 17 Lecture Notes on Central Dogma

2. Start Jigsaw activity for Chapters 18 and 20 (Wendi go to DNA Technology Folder ->Genetics of Viruses and Bacteria ppt, slide 1. Break up into 3 groups of four and assign different parts to jigsaw. Create colored posters.

 

HW:

1. Lab 7 write-up due next Monday.

1. Explain protocols for loading gels using micropipettes and setting up electrophoresis chambers (have a model ready and demonstrate with food coloring or dye.)

2. Review protocols for loading gels and performing gel electrophoresis before lab

1. Biorad Gel-Electrophoresis lab (Wendi - check biorad procedures with AP lab procedures and data. Make any adjustments as necessary for student data) - Students may need to stay during FIRE to finish with staining, etc.

2. Finish Chapter 18 lecture on Operons during "down time" while electrophoresis is running.
