Members of the speech team compete in several contests throughout the year. Students can choose from a variety
of genres including four different types of debate, humorous interpretation, dramatic interpretation and persuasive
speaking. Students in Speech
II
are required to attend speech tournaments. Students in Speech I are encouraged
to compete in tournaments.
Speech
competitions
are
a
fun
way to meet new friends from around the
state while
polishing speaking skills that are applicable in a variety of
careers. Eligible students may also join the
National
Forensic League. Membership in this esteemed organization is
a nice addition to a college application.
In 2009
Foothill sent seven students to the State Championship Tournament.
