| Visual Communications PSA Project Each student will be creating a 30 second Public Service Announcement, (PSA) on a personally selected topic. The topic should be one that the student has strong feeling about, as this will need to be powerfully conveyed through the video. Topics that are available for selection include any topic that is an issue for teenagers. Examples would include: depression, drugs, alcohol, peer pressure, suicide, violence, parents, pregnancy, stress,etc. Please have all topics approved by the instructor before starting. The largest portion of the project will be created through the use of text and imagery. The server has a large amount or copyright-free images. Only use copyright free images. Audio will also need to be copyright free and can be created using Garage Band, or the tracks on the server titled ACID tracks. It will be up to the student to create a conceptual project dealing with the topic. If, for example, the student is creating a PSA on drug abuse, the student should research the effects of drug abuse on the body, family, and friends. Take this information and translate it through the use of color, line, shape, etc. Drug abuse might be represented through text by using unaltered text in the beginning to show a natural state of being, then affecting the color and texture of the text to convey a sense of destruction. In order to convey the mood of the topic and message, much thought will need to be devoted to the use of text and imagery, how the text and imagery is altered, and audio. Audio will need to be created for the project. Use the audio to help the message, not hinder. The mood of the audio should match the mood of the message. If not, the message will be diluted. Use Garage Band, and give yourself plenty of time to experiment and play with the program. Audio, like the video, should fade-in and fade out. Specifications: Points: |
