Each student will experiment with using the studio lights to create
a portrait that is:
1. In focus
2. Uses the light effectively to create a range of shadow, mid-tones,
and highlights.
3. Is aware of the background by avoiding including photo equipment
and other miscellaneous items that distract from the image of the person.
4. Works with the student that is modeling and communicates to that
student how they need to pose.
Once the portrait is finished; the image needs to be altered in Photoshop
in the following three ways:
1. Create two separate copies of the image and blur the top layer.
Sharpen the bottom layer, and then using a layer mask on the top layer,
remove the area of the eyes, eyelashes, lips and teeth in order to
reveal the sharpened areas.
2. The now newly retouched photograph need to be converted into B&W
using the steps detailed in class. (Hint, it does not include simply
converting to grayscale).
3. Once converted to grayscale, create a duplicate and colorize using
a adjustment layer.
4. Once all three images are done, they need to be placed side-by-side
in a new document that is 300 resolution. Match the size and edges
up, then crop the excess borders. Your end product will consist of
three images modified, situated side by side for comparison. Save as
JPG at 12 quality. Turn in as e06LastF.jpg
