The instructors in the Applied Arts Department strive to provide up-to-date information on assignments, activities and hand-out resources on the class web sites, more specifically, on the DAILY agendas. We also do our best to keep the Parent and Student Connect sections of the Zangle site up-to-date.
Our lessons and projects are explained online in great detail with all requirements, links, resources and rubrics available at the time that each project is introduced. Each project is introduced in class by the instructor with numerous presentations and explanations. Students are often lead step-by-step in starting or working through a project and are often given templates with examples to follow.
It is up to the students to be responsible for meeting project requirements and deadlines. Every student has the opportunity to work on each project in class with the instructor, teacher's assistants and peers available for providing assistance. Labs are also available during FIRE for additional worktime.
We appeal to you for your help!!! Please use the online resources available to your child to assist you in keeping up-to-date with their project requirements and due dates. Your guidance is crucial in helping us to help your child succeed.
Your child's grade is a direct reflection of their performance in class and on each project. We have high expectations, but provide the scaffolding needed to support your child in reaching those goals.
Once a project is completed and turned in, we do our best to grade fairly - basing our grading on the published assignment guidelines and rubrics.
Students are responsible for their attendance and performance. Missed days equal missed opportunities that cannot be recovered. Make up work needs to be completed and turned in by the student in a timely manner. Average (C-level) projects must address minimum requirements as set by the published criteria; excellent (A-level) projects need to go above and beyond. This is how a responsible student earns high marks.
We want your child to succeed. You want your child to succeed. Your child wants to succeed. Let's work together to make sure it happens each and every day!!!
