March 2010

  • At end of quarter 3, review grade 10-12 GPAs
    • Currently unenrolled upperclassmen below 2.0, placed into FIRE classrooms
    • Currently enrolled upperclassmen put to FIRE Test (see form) to determine placement
    • Eligible students counseled as they "opt out" of FIRE for quarter 2
  • At end of quarter 3, review grade 9 GPAs
    • Currently unenrolled grade 9 students below 3.0, placed into FIRE classroom for quarter

April 2010

  • 04/13/10 Master List of Recommended Students Created
  • 04/13/10 Personalized Invitations to Recommended (124) Students to Attend Meeting and Apply

    • Currently (from semester 2 2008-2009) enrolled upperclassmen put to FIRE Test (see form) to determine placement
    • Sort Eligible Grade 10, 11, and 12 Students into 6-9 FIRE Classrooms
  • Review Cummulative Grade 8 Middle School GPAs for All Foothill Grade 9 Students (if available)
    • Sort Grade 9 Students into 14-15 FIRE Classrooms
    • Balance by GPA and gender, separate by alpha last name
  • 08/09/10 Create Semester 1 FIRE Classroom Teacher/Room Assignments
  • 08/09/10 Orientation Training for 2009-2010 FIRE Crew Leaders - Day 1 8:00-12:00 (corrected to match calendar and application)
  • 08/10/10 Orientation Training for 2009-2010 FIRE Crew Leaders - Day 2 8:00-12:00
  • 08/10/10 Assign FIRE Crew Leaders to FIRE Classrooms and FIRE Groups based on training attendees; FIRE Crew Leaders call their enrolled students to invite to orientation
  • 08/17/10 Orientation Set Up Day 8:30-11:30 a.m.
  • 08/18/10 New Student Orientation Day 8:00-12:30 (run by 2009-2010 FIRE Crew Leaders - arrive at 7 am for final set up and warm up)
  • 08/18/10 Staff Meet 'n' Greet 12:45-1:30 (lunch with FIRE Crew Leaders and Staff)
  • 08/24/10 First Day of School (and FIRE)

October 2010

  • At end of quarter 1, review grade 10-12 GPAs
    • Currently unenrolled upperclassmen below 2.0, placed into FIRE classroom
      • Make sure that newly enrolled students are enrolled for quarter 2 and semester 2
    • Currently enrolled upperclassmen put to FIRE Test (see form) to determine placement
    • Eligible students counseled as they "opt out" of FIRE for quarter 2
      • Make sure that "opt out" students are removed from quarter 2 and semester 2
    • Counselors prepare and distribute any schedule changes

January/February 2011

  • At end of semester 1, review grade 10-12 GPAs
    • Currently unenrolled upperclassmen below 2.0, placed into FIRE classroom
    • Currently enrolled upperclassmen put to FIRE Test (see form) to determine placement
    • Eligible students counseled as they "opt out" of FIRE for quarter 3
  • Grade 9 GPAs reviewed
    • Grade 9s at or above 3.0 released from FIRE
    • Grade 9s below 3.0 reassigned to FIRE classrooms based on new campus map
  • Week 2: Create Semester 2 FIRE Teacher/Room Assignments based on student needs
  • Week 3: Re-allocate FIRE Crew leaders based on student needs
